Christmas at National Prison Radio

National Prison Radio is important to those in prison at Christmas time; for some it’s a lifeline.

Whilst Christmas is seen as a happy time of year to spend with loved ones, we understand that the reality inside is very different.

Christmas can be an especially lonely time in prison and that’s why National Prison Radio will continue to broadcast into prison cells across England and Wales 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the Christmas and New Year period.

National Prison Radio is the only radio station which brings you programmes made by people in prison at our studios in HMP Brixton and HMP Styal.

To help people stay connected with their loved ones, we’ve been asking friends and family to get in touch with their Christmas song requests and messages for the Christmas special of the Friends and Family Request Show. If you’re listening on the outside, you access the show here https://www.mixcloud.com/nationalprisonradio/ on Christmas Day.

If you haven’t already submitted your requests for your loved ones for 2023, you can do so at www.nationalprisonradio.com.

NPR Listener in HMP Hull: “Wishing everyone at NPR a Happy Christmas and to all in the system.

NPR Listener in HMP Preston: “Thank you guys for playing all our music, you guys are amazing. Merry Christmas to everybody, hope you’re doing amazing, if you’re not, make sure you speak up.”

NPR Listener in HMP Swinfen Hall: “I want to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and all the best for 2023.”

Happy Christmas to all from everyone here at National Prison Radio!
