We use the power of radio and podcasts to support women and girls housed at HMP Styal, and to reach women in prison across the country. Through this project, we provide training, mentoring, and a safe space for women to re-find their voices and develop new skills.
Their audio work goes on to inspire others, via National Prison Radio, helping women in prison feel part of a community and stay connected with family. Together, we’re paving creative pathways towards brighter futures after release.
Starring the voices and faces of people with lived experience of prison, and a very well-trained pigeon, Connection is our brand-new film that celebrates the quiet magic of radio – how a voice on the airwaves can travel across land, through skies, and even between bars. It shows how our radio station, National Prison Radio, carries hope, connection, and love between people inside and outside prison walls, while helping to reduce reoffending and build brighter futures along the way:
