Life After Prison take home two awards at the British Podcast Awards 2024

This year the Prison Radio Association’s smash hit podcast Life After Prison received two nominations at the ‘biggest night of podcasting’, the British Podcast Awards; one in the Interview category and one in the Specialist category.

And what a night in turned out to be for our Life After Prison team. We took home the Bronze award in the Interview category and we were Highly Commended in the Specialist category!

Hosted by comedian and broadcaster Marcus Brigstocke, the awards ceremony took place at HERE at Outernet, Denmark Place, London and celebrated the best in British podcasting.

Life After Prison hosts Zak and Jules also took to the stage to present an award to another talented professional contributing to the UK podcast scene. That individual happened to be our patron, George the Poet.

Life After Prison is a podcast series and online community for people affected by the criminal justice system. It is created by the Prison Radio Association, a registered charity that has revolutionised communications in the criminal justice sector.

The podcast is hosted by Zak and Jules – two people who are part of the community themselves, having both been released from prison in 2019. Their personal experience of the resettlement journey is crucial to the success of Life After Prison.

Life After Prison aims to pick up where National Prison Radio left off for tens of thousands of people who are resettling into society after a sentence.

Zak and Jules’ shared life experiences ensure listeners to Life After Prison feel in safe hands. They’re the authentic article, sharing insights that only people who have spent time in prison could come up with.

This is yet another award the Life After Prison team can add to their mantelpiece. Since launching in 2022, the team have picked up multiple highly recognised awards, including Best New Presenters at the 2023 ARIAS.

Life After Prison continues to astound with its success. Life After Prison content has recently reached 15 millions views across all platforms and 77% of listeners have taken positive action after hearing something on the podcast.

Zak and Jules continue to break barriers, share stories, and redefine narratives.

They are living proof that there really is life after prison.

Congratulations to the whole Life After Prison team and to everyone else who picked up an award at last night’s ceremony!
