Cellmate to CEO: Life After Prison

The Prison Radio Association brings you a brand-new series format from our smash hit podcast Life After Prison: Cellmate to CEO, hosted by PRA alumni Tony Supreme.

In this show, presenter Tony uses his experience as the CEO of Soul Surge Wellness, to share the stories of CEOs, leaders and change makers – all people who have had experience in prison – with the Life After Prison audience.

During the series, we hear more about Life After Prison’s co-host Zak’s story as in he goes into depth about his journey within the criminal justice system. He shares the changes he made during his third and final sentence, difficulty finding work after prison, and his progression into leadership and starting his own organisation, X Conversation.

We also hear from guests such as entrepreneur Jacob Hill, CEO of Offploy, talk about how he found his calling in prison, and Gina Moffatt tell’s her story which took her from HMP Holloway to sitting opposite His Majesty the King as a Prince’s Trust advisor.

Gina now owns a restaurant and a catering business. But it all began with a flower stall that she opened while she was still in prison. Gina tells Tony how none of it would have happened without the support of her friends in prison and the Governor at HMP Holloway.

“Him saying to me I believe in you made a big difference to me… I salute the Governor who said that to me: I believe in you, I believe you can do this.”

That Governor’s belief, and the help of her friends on the wing, started Gina on her journey, which shows no sign of slowing down.

“I had tea with the Queen, I’m getting to see Prince Charles, now the King, I sit on his board. He’s not seeing me as a prison inmate; he’s seeing me as a person where he can come to me and ask me for advice. We’re doing this thing together.”

Gina tells Tony that helping others experiencing hard times is the thing that motivates her.

“The stereotype that no-one wants to know you when you’ve been to prison, you’ve been written off, is so not true. A lot of genuine people are reaching out to give support and help…. Ask people for help: it’s there and it is possible.”

We hear from many other guests throughout the series – all who are inspiring and paving the way for change.

You can tune into Cellmate to CEO wherever you get your podcasts. Gina’s episode will be released on Christmas Day.
